London, 8 August 2013: Birchall Tea has won three prestigious accolades at this year’s Great Taste Awards, the ‘Oscars’ for the speciality and fine food & drink industry, organised by the Guild of Fine Food.
Following previous honours in 2011 and 2012, Birchall‘s signature Great Rift blend once again earned a coveted Gold Star award – this time in the Blended tea bags category. Also, in a new first for the British tea company, Birchall achieved success in both the Fruit Infusion and Herbal Infusion categories, winning two Gold Star awards with its caffeine free Red Berry & Flower infusion and pure Peppermint tea.
The famous black and gold Great Taste symbol will now appear on these products, as featured on other teas in Birchall’s extensive range, including its well-known Pfunda and Pfunda Earl Grey single estate teas.
The Great Taste Awards is now in its 20th year and is the world’s largest and most rigorous food awards scheme. This year’s completely independent judging process involved a panel of over 400 judges and food experts, which spent thousands of hours of
blind tasting to select winners from numerous categories.
Daniel Graham, Birchall’s Managing Director, said “We are delighted with this year‘s Great Taste results and that our
dedication to quality has received further recognition. Whilst it’s pleasing that our newly launched Peppermint and Red Berry & Flower infusions have both been awarded, it is especially pleasing that our Great Rift blend has been awarded for the third straight year.”
Birchall will showcase its complete collection of black teas, green teas and fruit & herbal infusions at London Olympia during the Speciality & Fine Food Fair next month. Continue reading →
